The Eden Alternative UK Register of Homes What is the Eden Alternative UK Register of Homes? The Register is a public commitment to strive for the principles and practices of The Eden Alternative. It is not a part of the regulatory system or any other quality mark. . Residents and their families must still make every effort to ensure that their needs can be met by the organization and work hard to build a relationship with the staff of the home. Please understand that The Eden Alternative has no operational control over any long-term care facilities. Our work is primarily to provide education and support, not monitoring. We feel it is important, however, to honour those who make a commitment to strive for a community that supports the growth of all who live there. Eden Alternative UK maintains the Eden Register. Why do we need an Eden Alternative Register? As a way of honouring those who undertake the hard work of transforming their institutions into warm and loving places to live. We want others to know about these homes that are creating a place where life is worth living and where people want to work. Similarly, organisations and Homes that have made the investment and commitment to the Eden Alternative want to be able to tell the world and to differentiate themselves from others who have not made a similar commitment.
What is the value in the Eden Register?
First and foremost, belonging to the register allows a home to use the
Eden Alternative name and logo in their promotional material. Eden
Alternative is becoming a highly recognisable care philosophy. Google
the term Eden Alternative and you will get nearly one million hits. It
also receives thousands of references in the media each year. World
wide, the Eden Alternative is established in most U.S. states, Canada,
Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, and
Scandinavia. The Eden name is gaining recognition worldwide, not only
among those involved in Aged Care but also among consumers. Eden UK
gets calls and emails from health care professionals who want to
relocate to an Eden organization, family members looking for an Eden
Registered Home for their loved ones and from people looking for a place
to live. We also regularly receive invitations from conference
organisers requesting a presentation on the Eden Alternative care
philosophy. The Eden Alternative name alone carries great value for a
home, which also receives with its registration:
Eden Alternative UK Register of Homes Kent Honeyfield
Located in the village
of Hextable, near Swanley, Honeyfield provides specialist
dementia care and benefits from imposing landscaped gardens,
which are always open for resident's enjoyment. Honeyfield is
a three-storey home providing care in each self contained
area. There is also an activities day care centre providing
care for up to 15 people with dementia.
Court Regis
Located on the
outskirts of Sittingbourne, Court Regis is set in attractive
gardens where residents can be actively involved in
gardening projects. The single storey home is divided into
two main living areas and provides residential and
specialist dementia care.
Mt Ephraim House
Mount Ephraim House is a Home, with a distinguished and aristocratic history dating back to 1606 when it was King Charles's hunting lodge. It is an impressive building with delightful, well kept sheltered gardens and walkways. The Home is set on a hilltop overlooking the town and has a folly, listed in a book of follies, and tunnels leading to the Pantiles, a Georgian colonnade in the town of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Much of the interior of the house is classical with carved wooden ceilings, panelled walls and stained glass windows. Mount Ephraim House is a home from home providing care for elderly frail residents.
Isle of Wight The Briars
The Briars is a large, modernised, Victorian house set in interesting and attractive gardens in Sandown, Isle of Wight, with good transport links to the rest of the island. All the bed-sitting rooms are for single occupancy and have en-suite facilities. The home has a team of highly qualified, dedicated carers, and offers a variety of activities. The home is able to provide care for older people with dementia.
Surrey Murray House
Murray House is a warm and welcoming home situated in the historic town of Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey, England. We are very near to leafy Richmond Park and Hampton Court Palace which make for great days out. We take pride in ensuring our elders reach their optimum potentials and that each individual is supported and confident in taking choice and control over their every day lives. Amy Woodgate
Amy Woodgate is a brand new purpose built residential and day care resource centre for Dementia situated in the heart of Chessington. The new building was opened in April 2009 and provides residential care for up to 40 permanent residents together with a day care facility for 30, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Hobkirk House
Hobkirk is a vibrant nursing home with 24 permanent beds, 6 beds managed for the local Trust for level 1 continuing health care and 14 short stay beds providing respite, rehabilitation and assessment. We have very close links with the local Primary school who visit weekly during the school term. Hobkirk is situated very close to the local High Street which provides many opportunities for the residents to go shopping, out for coffee or afternoon tea and visits to the local pub! The adjacent park is also a popular venue.
Newent House and Day Care Centre
Newent House is a 38-bedded home run by the council. Three of those bed places are offered as respite care, a popular option for many. It also has a day centre, which serves the whole of the borough. Newent House is located near to Surbiton town centre and enjoy links within the local community.

It is simply a public commitment to strive for the Principles and practices of the Eden Alternative. We feel it is important, however, to honour those who would make a commitment to strive for a human community that supports the growth of all. Australia & New Zealand - Mastering the pathway to Culture Change excellence requires a commitment to the Eden Alternative. Part of the Eden journey for organisations who commit to the Eden Philosophy is to apply for and become known as a registered Edenising home. Being a registered Edenising home, group or organisation shows the intent of the facility or organisation to make a difference in the quality of life for all residents and elders.
